I've found your web pages really interesting, particularly as our families are linked. My mother was born Elaine FRANKLAND and it is this family that I am currently tracing.
My mother's grandfather Arthur Edward FRANKLAND (b 1867, Saxmundham, Suffolk) married her grandmother Ada Emma SINGLETON (b 1872, Richmond, Surrey) about 1893.
Ada's parents were John SINGLETON (b 1846, Richmond, Surrey) and Rebecca NEECH (b 15th October 1845, Beccles, Suffolk) - I have a copy of this marriage certificate (27th May 1871, Marylebone, London - Samuel Neech described as 'Hay Dealer'). Ada had two brothers and one sister; John SINGLETON (b 1874, Richmond), George SINGLETON (b 1877, Battersea) and Phoebe M SINGLETON (b 1880, Battersea) - information from 1881 census.
I received a copy of Rebecca's birth certificate this morning. Parents: Samuel NEECH and Phoebe NEECH (formerly BUTTON) - Phoebe is actually written 'Phebe'. Samuel NEECH's occupation is 'Cattle Jobber'.
Another link between the FRANKLAND and NEECH family is documented in the Beccles & Bungay Weekly News - 24th April 1866:
'On the 17th April, at Beccles Church, by the Rev C.H. SHAW, curate, James FRANKLAND, Norfolk Postman, to Esther NEECH, eldest daughter of Mr Samuel NEECH, Dealer of Beccles.'
I believe Esther to be Rebecca's sister, although neither of them are listed in your history as children of Samuel and Phoebe.
James FRANKLAND (b 1873, Beccles) is one of Arthur FRANKLAND's brothers. (What a tangled web we weave!)
I'd really appreciate any further information and would be happy to share anything I have that may be of interest.
Kind regards
Marian
