Mavis’ marriage to Thomas Courtney had been bigamous, he had a previous undeclared marriage. The marriage with Courtney was finally declared annulled around 1955 , after she had not seen him for many years.

Mavis’  marriage with Gerald Barbrook was in the mid 1960’s and produced no children, they were divorced late 60’s or early 1970’s.

Marjorie, the first born, and Mark were both born out of wedlock.  

Mavis was living at 270, Salmon St., Kingsbury, London NW9 when John was born.

Her husband, Thomas, was during German bombing raids on London sometime between the birth of John and Terrence

Mavis was living at 54 Crawley Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, England when Terrence was born
