HMS Goliath anchored off Hong
Kong in 1900. Arthur John Neech was
transferred to Goliath at the start of the Opium War and remained with her for
the duration.

Bight, Sydney Harbour. Arthur John Neech was transferred to HMAS
Melbourne, a sister ship of the same class. In 1914 in is stated in
Arthur's Navy records that he 'Took part in the operations in German New
Guinea"
