Arthur John Neech was transferred to Goliath
at the start of the Opium War and remained with her for the
duration.
Photo 2 HMAS Brisbane (abt 1914) at anchor in
Athol Bight, Sydney Harbour. Arthur John Neech was transferred
to HMAS Melbourne, a sister ship of the same class.
In 1914 in is stated in Arthur's Navy records that he "Took
part in the operations in German New Guinea"
